Rediscover the story of the Ecouen school of painters

Our books

News

Published in collaboration with CINABRE Publishing, our Association has just released its latest book, Faune sentimentale. It recounts the remarkable journey of Auguste Schenck, an illustrious member of the École d’Ecouen.

This trilingual French/English/German book was written by Christian Dauchel, Christine Essling, and Thierry Laugée.

We hope you enjoy reading it.

We would like to inform you that a letter from Pierre Edouard Frère to Jean-François Millet is on display in the autograph gallery of our website. It concerns one of his students, Lewis Wingfield.

This letter is an important testimony to the proximity that existed between the important schools in the Paris region (Ecouen, Barbizon and Auvers-sur-Oise).

We encourage you to read this letter, which is on display in the autograph gallery.

We hope you will enjoy discovering these talented 19th-century painters on our website.

More and more of you are visiting the site, and we are very grateful for that.

We would like to invite you to join our association, which has only one goal: to revive this unjustly forgotten school of painting.  This way, or through a donation, you will be helping us to continue our passionate work of research, exhibitions, conferences, visits to the route that exists in the town, and improvement of our website.
