An unexpected meeting with Corot

During our April 2017 exhibition concerning the Ecouen’s painters of the 19th Century, we were showing a panel concerning some well known passing by artists, including Corot (1796-1875). During the three days he spent in Ecouen, he painted a farm entrance.
The day before last of the exhibition, a visitor stopped in front of the panel and loudly said « But… it’s my house ! ». Doing this, he helped us to locate the place we were looking for since many years. He is the ony one remembering, from his youth time, the original shape of this farm, identical to the one Corot had in front of him. It’s aspect has, today, slightly changed. An other painter, American, Joseph Foxcroft Cole (1837-1892), painted the same place as well.
